Location: Remote (Preference for Bengaluru-based candidates with Kannada proficiency)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Associate/Assistant to join our team for an impact evaluation project in collaboration with the H&M Foundation. This initiative assesses the effectiveness of the Collective Impact (CI) approach in improving the livelihoods of waste pickers in Bengaluru, India. The evaluation aims to determine the approach’s success, identify influencing factors, and provide insights for scaling or replicating the program.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluation Design & Implementation: Assist in designing evaluations, defining research questions, and developing a theory of change.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Develop survey instruments, conduct field visits, monitor survey teams, clean and analyze data, and ensure data quality and consistency.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with government bodies, NGOs, research organizations, and donors to ensure project success.
• Knowledge Management & Reporting: Maintain project documentation, prepare donor reports, and create knowledge-sharing materials.
• Research Support: Conduct literature reviews, statistical analyses, power calculations, and prepare technical reports.
• Training & Workshops: Organize capacity-building sessions, contribute to training materials, and support knowledge dissemination efforts.
• Synthesis Research: Conduct critical appraisals, extract and code metadata, and summarize findings for impact evaluations and systematic reviews.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience (Research Associate) or 1-2 years (Research Assistant).
• Strong knowledge of econometric analysis and causal inference techniques.
• Proficiency in data analysis using STATA and handling large datasets.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Desirable:

• Experience in impact evaluation, quantitative research, and synthesis studies.
• Familiarity with cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analyses.
• Prior experience in research paper writing and evaluation reports.
• Working knowledge of Kannada and preference for Bengaluru-based candidates.
• Experience managing large-scale surveys, particularly in community-driven development programs.
