About The Community Library Project (TCLP)
The Community Library Project (TCLP) is an anti-caste people’s initiative that believes in equal access to books for all. We are dedicated to building a publicly owned, free library system that serves communities without discrimination. Our Leadership Development Program empowers community members to take ownership of library spaces and advocate for the Right to Read.
About the Role: Community Organiser Fellow
We are looking for passionate individuals committed to social justice, anti-caste advocacy, and gender equality to join us as Community Organiser Fellows. This one-year fellowship (renewable once) offers hands-on experience in community organizing, outreach, and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Community Outreach & Recruitment: Engage with local communities, recruit members, and organize participation through door-knocking, phone banking, events, and social media.
✅ Community Building: Plan and host meetings, workshops, and social events to foster a strong sense of community and collaboration.
✅ Leadership Development: Train and mentor emerging community leaders in public speaking, advocacy, and mobilization.
✅ Campaign Execution: Support key initiatives like Arts ka Haq, Padhai ka Haq, Space ka Haq, and Right to Read through research, data collection, and mobilization.
✅ Administrative Tasks: Maintain records, data entry, and report preparation.
✅ Collaboration: Work closely with volunteers, staff, and community partners to achieve TCLP’s mission.
Eligibility Criteria
🔹 Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
🔹 Skills & Experience:
✔ Strong commitment to anti-caste, feminist, and social justice movements
✔ Ability to work with diverse populations
✔ Excellent organizational & time-management skills
✔ Strong written & verbal communication skills
✔ Ability to work independently and in teams
✔ Proficiency in Google Suite & Microsoft Office
✔ Prior experience in community organizing is a plus but not mandatory
✔ Fluency in a regional language is an advantage
✔ Preference given to individuals from Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasi, LGBTQIA+ communities, women, and first-generation learners
