Job Overview

UNESCO South Asia Regional Office seeks a dynamic and dedicated Project Assistant to support the “Empowering Minds: Transforming Lives” initiative. This project focuses on developing a Global MOOC on AI Ethics and other AI governance programs in India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in project coordination, ensuring content development, curriculum planning, and course delivery meet deadlines.
  • Organize and manage meetings for the Project Steering Committee and Advisory Group, including preparing agendas and relevant materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, consultants, and production teams to develop high-quality course content.
  • Support logistical arrangements for AI governance initiatives in India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of project records, stakeholder interactions, and project progress.

Content & Curriculum Development

  • Assist in reviewing and refining the MOOC curriculum, including case studies, practical exercises, and video scripts.
  • Organize and consolidate learning materials in alignment with UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage communication between UNESCO, LG AI Research, and other partners.
  • Support collaborations with academic institutions, civil society organizations, and industry leaders.

Monitoring, Reporting & Budgeting

  • Assist in drafting project reports, donor submissions, and quarterly progress updates.
  • Develop communication materials such as newsletters and reports to enhance project visibility.
  • Track budgets and monitor financial expenditures in coordination with the National Programme Officer.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Artificial Intelligence Governance, Ethics & Technology, Law & Technology, or related fields.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and perform under pressure.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI governance and digital ethics frameworks.

Languages:

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in social and human sciences, AI policy, or international relations.
  • Previous work in AI ethics, technology policy, or UNESCO programs is highly desirable.
  • Experience with United Nations or multilateral organizations is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: INR 1,321,976/- to INR 1,434,343/-
  • Benefits Include: 30 days annual leave, 15% social security contribution, and other applicable benefits.
